About

Valerie Mellema is from various locations across Northeast Oklahoma.  Born in Tulsa, Valerie has lived in Owasso, Broken Arrow, Oologah and Henryetta.  She is part Cherokee Indian with roots going back to John Ross and Sequoya.  Her Indian card may say 1/200ths, but she’s actually more, her grandma just didn’t have the chance to prove it before passing.

In 2002, she moved to Amarillo to live with the love of her life.  Valerie attended West Texas A&M University where she received her BS in Agribusiness/Equine Business & Industry and a Minor in Animal Science.  After graduation, Valerie interned as a graphic design intern at the American Quarter Horse Association.  That same year, she also started her ghostwriting business Words You Want with her husband.

On November 2008, Troy and Valerie’s first and only was born a mere 2 minutes after Thanksgiving.  TJ is the love of their life and the best thing that has ever happened to them. (He’s more Cherokee than he’s given credit for too!)

In addition to having a love and flair for writing, Valerie has a love and flair for animals of the equine nature as well.  Her love for horses is a genetic trait passed on to her from her grandfather and her mother.  Important horses in her life have included her first pony Buttercup, Sesna (a Paint), Big John (a HUGE Appendix Quarter Horse), Rio (the most beautiful Palomino gelding ever) and several of the horses at the WT Horse Center, especially the ones she learned to jump on.

Today, most of her time is spent working.  Words You Want is a ghostwriting and SEO writing company that specializes in web content, ebooks, blogs, press releases and article marketing.  This blog is a series of random postings depending on whatever is on her mind at the moment and that she actually has time to write about.  Beware that it may be very opinionated!
